
Hynes Has Record-Breaking Performance on Opening Day of Colonial Athletic Association Championships

Fairfax, Va. – The Drexel women's swimming and diving team was led by sophomore diver, Kate Hynes, who won the 3-meter dive in record fashion on opening day of the Colonial Athletic Association Championships.
Hynes' score of 324.55 on the 3-meter springboard broke the pool and CAA record (296.45), which she set a year ago under the new scoring format. Junior diver, Stephanie Battaglia, also scored points for the Dragons in the 3-meter event. Battaglia earned a sixth-place finish with a score of 216.50 in finals and improved her preliminary round performance where she placed seventh with 205.25 points.
The Dragon women finished 11th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.07 and earned the same placing in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 8:18.61. The Dragons are currently in eighth place in the team competition, with 57 points. George Mason leads after day one with 111 points.
The Dragons return to competition today at George Mason's Jim McKay Natatorium. Preliminary competition begins at 10 a.m.
